Beanster is a coffee bean collection and brewing companion app. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

• Account information: If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive account identifiers and, depending on the provider, your name and email address.
• Coffee bean records: The app stores coffee bean details you create or scan, such as bean name, origin, processing method, roast level, roast date, flavor notes, remaining amount, completion status, card theme, and brewing recipe.
• Photos and scan content: When you choose or take coffee bag photos, the app uses them to recognize text and create bean records. Photos may be stored locally on your device for cover images. The extracted text may be sent to an AI parsing provider to help identify coffee information.
• Purchases: If you subscribe to Beanster Pro, Apple processes the payment and provides subscription status to the app through StoreKit.
• Local preferences: Brew profile, brew records, alert settings, avatar image, language, theme, and similar preferences may be stored locally on your device.

How We Use Information

• To create and save your coffee bean collection.
• To generate and adjust brewing suggestions.
• To sync supported bean data across your signed-in devices.
• To provide subscriptions and restore purchases.
• To maintain account access and account deletion.
• To improve reliability and user experience.

Third-Party Services

Beanster uses third-party services to provide core functionality:

• Supabase: Used for authentication and cloud storage of coffee bean records.
• Apple Sign in with Apple: Used for account sign-in when you choose Apple login.
• Google Sign-In: Used for account sign-in when you choose Google login.
• Google Gemini or compatible AI parsing providers: Used to parse extracted coffee bag text into structured bean information.
• Apple StoreKit: Used to manage subscriptions and purchase status.

Photo Processing

Beanster uses coffee bag photos only when you choose to take or select them. Text recognition happens on the device when supported. Extracted text may be sent to an AI provider for structured parsing. Beanster does not sell your photos or use them for advertising.

Data Storage and Sync

Coffee bean records are stored in Supabase when you are signed in. Some data, including brew profile, brew records, avatar image, alert settings, and cover images, may be stored locally on your device and may not sync across devices in the current version.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with the service providers needed to operate the app, process sign-in, parse coffee information, store bean records, and manage subscriptions.

Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete individual coffee bean records in the app. You can also delete your account from the app settings. Account deletion removes your account and cloud bean records associated with that account, subject to provider processing and backup retention practices.

Children

Beanster is not intended to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
